Hourly Rate:

$31.90/hr PLUS Generous benefits package  

Annual Education Stipends:
$500 for Associates Degree/Accredited Training Program Certification or
$1000 for Bachelors Degree or
$1500 for Masters Degree

Job Responsibilities:

1. Coordinates/implement/maintain the ongoing operations of the Voice network. Must have knowledge or the ability to master analog punch down, analog toning and programming of various VoIP telephones.

2. Implements and assist in maintaining district level networking (including but not limited to routers, switches, wireless management, VoIP equip, filtering servers, VPN's, switches) and related operating systems.

3. Provides installation, customization and maintenance of approved vendor supplied software for Voice Networking. Assist supervisor with circuit turn ups and managing install vendors.

4. Prepares charts, tables, and diagrams to assist in analyzing local and VoIP Networking problems while collaborating with team members.

5. Prepare network packet captures and analyzes to determine communication errors.

6. Performs the monitoring and assists in adjustments of network systems for optimal performance.

7. Organizes and prepares Voice systems documentation.

8. Assist with the monitoring and adjustments of firewalls, filtering, VPN and other networking devices.

9. Communicates with district personal for efficient diagnostic and problem resolution of voice hardware, voice management tools, and voice technology.

10. Interacts with WNYRIC Sr. WAN and LAN Specialists, application coordinators, specialist and customers to maintain optimal network performance.

11. Undertakes physical activities such as key boarding, lifting, and tasks related to the installation, troubleshooting and support for telecommunications devices weighing in excess of 60 pounds.

12. Works in schools where students, teachers, and administrators are present as needed and holds and maintains a valid drivers’ license.

13. Provides and facilitates communication between Supervisor, team members, customers and other WNYRIC Teams (electronic mail, voice mail, cell phone, text messaging, collaborative virtual environments, etc.).

14. Collaborates, as necessary, with other members of the organization in order to meet the evolving technical advancements in the K-12 environment.

15. Studies and evaluates methods and procedures to determine the adaptability to existing network technology.

16. Familiar with setup and use of Active Directory, Netware (Novell), Windows, Ethernet, TCP/IP, electronic mail (Lotus Notes et al), PCs, MACs and other technologies, as required by specific assignment.

17. Provides off-hour coverage as requested.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Civil Service Qualifications:

A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience in computer programming which included, at least, on (1) year of experience in programming and/or maintenance of vendor supplied operating software; or;

B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) or four (4) year college or university with an Associate’s degree in Data Processing, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field and four (4) years of data processing experience, two (2) years of which, included computer programming, and at least, one (1) year of experience in programming and/or maintenance of vendor supplied operating software; or;

C) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and six (6) years of data processing experience, two (2) years of which, included computer programming, and at least one (1) year of experience in programming and/or maintenance of vendor supplied operating software; or;

D) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C)

Additional Qualifications: 

  • Experience in servicing VoIP systems, CCNA, Network+, Security + desirable
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver's License and willing to drive to schools and offsite when necessary.
